家の上に瓦を乗せた椅子です。福井県の町並みを形づくる瓦屋根の家を縮小し、身近な家具に落とし込みました。越前瓦は福井県の大雪にも負けない耐久性が特徴です。本来、屋根の中央付近に使用する大割のし瓦を椅子の座面として使用することで、充分な強度を確保しています。普段触れる機会の少ない瓦ですが、座ることでその力強さや存在感を体感できる一脚です。 This chair places roof tiles atop a house like structure. It reduces the tiled roof houses that shape the townscape of Fukui Prefecture to a smaller scale, translating them into a familiar piece of furniture. Echizen roof tiles are known for their durability, able to withstand the heavy snowfall characteristic of Fukui. By using large flat ridge tiles normally installed near the center of a roof as the seat surface, the chair achieves sufficient structural strength. Roof tiles are materials rarely touched in everyday life, yet by sitting on this chair, one can physically experience their solidity and commanding presence.
